Dr Ace Wong Wan Yuan Clinical Case Studies

Case 1

A young male patient in his 20’s taking medication for over a year from another clinic without results attended Yi En TCM Clinic. Between the ages of 16 and 20 years old, he consumed a large volume of antibiotics due to digestive tract illnesses. Since, he frequently experienced stomach discomfort. Clinical symptoms were discomfort after eating, stomach pain, foul smelling liquid stool containing undigested food, insomnia and shortness of breath. The clinical diagnosis was yang insufficiency with cold stomach constitution. His tongue was dark red with a thin white coating. Dr Ace Wong’s formulated medicine consisted of Fructus Evodiae, Radix Aconiti Lateralis Praeparata, Rhizoma Zingiberis, Nudus Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Atractylodes Macrocephala, Radix Codonopsis, Poria, Cinnamomi Cortex, Ramulus Cinnamomi, Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, Fructus Jujubae and Fructus Crataegi. Upon consuming the prescription for two weeks, his digestive tract issues began to resolve. Similarly, his shortness of breath symptoms also saw improvement. Through a month of Chinese medication, his digestive tract symptoms were essentially gone and his sleep quality was also on the rise.

Case 2

An adolescent female attended Yi En TCM Clinic. She clinically presented with facial acne and mouth ulcers that had persisted for a year. She was diagnosed with digestive tract weakness and insufficiency, pathogenic dampness stagnant in the spleen. Her pulse was deep and weak and tongue pale red with a greasy coat. Dr Ace Wong’s formulated medicine consisted of Radix Codonopsis, Radix Astragali, Radix Aconiti Lateralis Praeparata, Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, Fructus Jujubae, Nudus Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Poria, Rhizoma Atractylodes Macrocephela, Rhizoma Atractylodes, Ramulus Cinnamomi, White Lablab Bean, Magnolia Officinalis Cortex, Herba Moslae and Fructus Amomi Rotundus. After a week of appropriate medication use, her condition improved. After four months when she returned for review, her mouth ulcers had completely healed without recurrence. Her prolonged struggle with mouth ulcers and facial acne had all resolved.

Case 3

A male patient in his 30’s presented with hair loss at the age of 20. Since childhood he overate, drank excessive amounts of water, perspired profusely with the absence of sweat (like water), often felt thirsty, short of breath and mentally fatigued. His tongue was pale red with a thin white coat. Teeth indentations on the sides and bruising on the underside of the tongue was noted. He was diagnosed with weakness of both qi and blood, accompanied by morbid fluid retention. Dr Ace Wong’s formulated medicine consisted of Ramulus Cinnamomi, Dragon Bone and Oyster Shell Decoction combined with Eight Treasures Decoction, Fructus Crataegi, Radix Aconiti Lateralis Praeparata, Radix Astragali and Medicated Leaven. After a week of appropriate medication use, his condition improved. Upon returning for review, he commented that after reducing his water intake, he no longer felt thirsty. Case 4

A female patient in her 30’s presented with neck pain, abdominal bloating with morning nausea. She also experienced chronic fatigue. Her tongue was pale red with a thin white coat. Teeth indentations were also noted on the sides of the tongue. She was diagnosed with superficial wind chill syndrome, splenic deficiency and food stagnation internally. Dr Ace Wong’s formulated medicine consisted of Ramulus Cinnamomi and Radix Puerariae Decoction combined with Aconite Middle Regulating Decoction, Fructus Crataegi, Medicated Leaven, Tangerine Peels and Rhizoma Pinelliae. She was diagnosed with qi weakness complicated with phlegm. Case 6

An eight-year-old girl (twins-younger sister) presented with a persisting and recurring cough. She had been a long-term consumer of western medicine and user of an inhaler. Her left pulse was weak and her right pulse was slippery. Her tongue was pale red with a thin white coat. She was diagnosed with liver and splenic qi insufficiency. Dr Ace Wong’s formulated medicine consisted of Minor Blue Dragon Decoction, Ramulus Cinnamomi Decoction, Preserve Harmony Pill, Apricot Kernel and Perilla Leaf Powder and Four Gentlemen Decoction. After appropriate medication use, her condition improved. Upon returning for review, she commented that she no longer required the use of an inhaler. Her cough had resolved and her appetite returned.
